ENTRANCE EXAMS - ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026

Those who do not meet all the requirements set by the Government of Catalonia for direct admission to the advanced vocational training programmes in plastic arts and design must pass entrance exams organised by the School of Art and Design of the Diputació in Reus, among other centres.

DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES

The specific entrance exam for the plastic arts and design vocational training cycles, both at intermediate and higher levels, is aimed at individuals who meet the legally established access requirements for these studies. The purpose of this exam is to demonstrate the artistic skills and knowledge necessary to successfully pursue the professional training in plastic arts and design they wish to enroll in.

  • The entrance exam for intermediate and higher-level plastic arts and design cycles is for those who do not have the academic qualifications required for direct access and consists of two parts: a general part called the common part and a specific part.

  • The common part of the higher-level entrance exam aims to certify that the candidate has the maturity corresponding to the objectives of the baccalaureate.

  • The specific part, both for the intermediate and higher-level entrance exams, aims to demonstrate the artistic skills and knowledge needed to successfully undertake the professional training in plastic arts and design for those lacking the required academic qualifications.

EVALUATION COMMITTEES

  • The evaluation committees are established at the centers designated to conduct the tests, according to criteria of rationalization, capacity, and number of registered candidates. The Director General of Family and Community Education appoints the members of the committees, based on proposals from the center directors.

  • The list of members of each committee is published no later than the day of publication of the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates on the notice board of the Generalitat de Catalunya’s electronic headquarters (http://tauler.gencat.cat).

  • A maximum of two evaluation committees can be established at each center (one for each level and testing period, if applicable), composed of the following roles/profiles: the president, the secretary, and up to 17 members for higher-level committees, depending on the number of candidates the committee must serve and the subjects to be evaluated.

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE OF THE TEST

The test is structured in two parts:

  • Common part:
This includes the subjects of Catalan language, Spanish language, a foreign language (English, French, or German), and a fourth subject chosen between History and Mathematics. If the candidate takes Mathematics, passing this part also grants access to vocational training cycles.

  • Specific part:
The content refers to subjects in the Arts Baccalaureate track, related to the following areas: foundations of art and design, audiovisual culture and its media, technical representation systems, and two- and three-dimensional expression techniques.

It consists of one exercise chosen from three options:

  • Communication and Design

  • Artistic Expression

  • Art and Technology

MOSTRES

GRADES

  • The evaluation committee assesses the scores obtained in the different exercises on an overall basis.

  • Each exercise is graded from 0 to 10 points, and the common part and the specific part are scored independently.

  • If a candidate is exempt from one or more subjects, the score is calculated out of 10 points, and the weightings are adjusted proportionally without considering the exempt subject(s). If the exemption applies to one part of the test, the score of the other part becomes the overall score.

  • Scores are expressed with two decimal places and rounded to the nearest hundredth: rounded down if the thousandth is 4 or less, and rounded up if the thousandth is 5 or more.

  • The grade for the common part of the higher-level test is the arithmetic mean of the scores of its subjects.

  • The grade for the specific part corresponds to the execution of the graphic-artistic proposal or project completed.

  • Overall grade: To calculate the overall grade of the test (both medium and higher level), take the arithmetic mean of the common and specific part scores. If the candidate only takes the specific part, that score is the overall grade. Candidates who do not achieve a minimum score of 4 in each part are declared unfit, and no additional points can be added to the overall grade.

  • Total grade: If the overall grade is 4 or higher, a percentage of the score obtained in the preparatory training for the entrance exam (section 10.6.1 of this annex) can be added. In this case, the training score is multiplied by a coefficient of 0.20 and added to the entrance exam score.

  • The score for the preparatory training for the corresponding level (medium or higher) is only considered if all of the following conditions are met:

EXEMPTIONS

  • To request exemptions from the entrance exam, candidates must use the corresponding form available on the website of the Department of Education and Vocational Training and submit the supporting documentation. Taking the exams automatically implies waiving any exemption granted for that session.

  • Exemption from the Catalan language subject for intermediate level or Catalan language for higher level:
