Objectives

The purpose of the internship is to bring academic training closer to the professional world, providing a first contact with the social and work environment associated with each programme’s specialty. It also aims to acquire complementary knowledge that is useful for professional practice.

Procedures

The student must learn to adapt responsibly and proactively to the functions specific to the corresponding professional sector. They should assess the tasks that can be carried out in companies within the sector, as well as the possibility of future incorporation into the same company, or gain the knowledge necessary for incorporation into another.

Scheduling

60 hours (LOGSE: INTERIOR DESIGN FAMILY — PIDOD and EPHEMERAL ARCHITECTURE) or 280 hours (LOE: AUDIOVISUAL DESIGN FAMILY — 3D INFOGRAPHICS and VIDEO GAMES & VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS), within the school timetable, excluding holidays.

As part of the WORKPLACE TRAINING (FCT) module, 60 / 280 hours of non-labour, unpaid training internships are carried out, combined with school activities and forming part of the theoretical training programme for students enrolled in the second year of the programme. Continuous monitoring is carried out by the internship coordinator at the companies, studios or workshops, through visits to the workplace where the student completes the internship, as well as meetings outside the company regarding the work performed.

The internship is carried out through an agreement signed using the official collaboration model between the school and the company, according to ORDRE ENS/193/2002, of 5 June.

The objectives are to bring the student closer to the professional world by acquiring complementary knowledge, receiving training adapted to the workplace, gaining familiarity with company culture, obtaining experience in a first job, beginning their professional record and having the opportunity for future employment.

Students may request an exemption by certifying professional experience in the same field as the programme they are studying, for a number of hours equal to or greater than the FCT requirement.

Methodology

  • Informative meeting with students at the beginning of the second year to plan availability and recommend dates that best suit each student without affecting class schedules.

  • Selection of companies in each sector based on the coordinator’s knowledge of the company or employer, and experience from previous internships.

  • Organisation of students according to time and availability, depending on the programme.

  • Individual explanation of the internship programme, according to company–internship–student.

  • Handling of internship agreement documents and the internship booklet.

  • Monitoring through company visits and graphic documentation of the tasks carried out, including the organisation of the assigned activity by the coordinator.

  • Individual meeting and personal conclusions between the coordinator and the student.
