Validations
The School has a protocol for the validation of training units and modules. Students may obtain either direct or special (singular) validations, following a specific procedure.
Direct validations refer to common or transversal modules (subjects) or training units, identical to those taken in vocational education programmes in plastic arts and design, usually within the same professional family. These are resolved by the school itself in accordance with the relevant regulations.
Special (singular) validations are those established between studies at different levels or requiring an analysis and recognition process. These are unilaterally resolved by the Department of Education or the Ministry of Education.
Validation of credits, modules or training units
To apply, students must meet at least one of the following requirements:
-
Have completed another vocational training cycle.
-
Have passed credits from a LOGSE-based qualification equivalent to the qualification sought.
-
Have accredited competence units.
-
Have specific credits and/or professional modules or training units validated, accredited or recognised through work experience.
The application must be submitted through the online registration form.
Between 7 and 22 October 2022 (approx. dates, pending update), students must send the supporting documentation to the centre where examinations are held (during registration hours), attaching the following form:
Direct validations (process)
-
The student begins the enrolment process.
-
The student is informed of possible validations. If they have previously completed other vocational training cycles or studies eligible for direct validation, they must request them during the enrolment period.
-
Enrolment remains pending confirmation in the case of direct validations.
-
For direct validations, the school’s director resolves the requests and informs the student and the administration office before enrolment closes.
-
The student must enrol in the training units or modules granted as direct validations, but they receive a 100% fee waiver. These are common or transversal modules identical to those previously completed in plastic arts and design cycles, usually within the same professional family.
-
The record must include the corresponding grade (“Validated” for LOGSE; the original grades of the training units or modules for LOE).
Special (singular) validations
To apply, students must meet one of the following requirements:
-
Hold a second-degree vocational qualification.
-
Hold another technician or higher technician qualification.
-
Have completed university studies, even if unfinished (only for possible validations of training units in higher technician studies).
-
Have completed professional modules.
-
Have completed official language studies or other studies with official validity.
The application must be submitted through the online registration form.
Until 20 October 2022 (approx. date, pending publication), students must send (in person or by certified mail) the supporting documentation to the Department of Education’s registry (Via Augusta 202–226, 08021 Barcelona), together with the following form:
Special validations (process)
-
The student begins the enrolment process.
-
For special validation: the student requests it by submitting a written application addressed to the school’s director. The deadline is 20 October (approximate, as the final date has not yet been published).
-
For special validations, the enrolment process is completed normally.
-
The school’s director forwards the application to the Directorate-General for Initial Vocational Training and Special Regime Education, which will issue a resolution.
-
The student must be enrolled in the training unit or module for which validation is requested. Unlike direct validations, the student must pay the corresponding fee and must start attending classes until a resolution is issued.
-
The record must include the notation “Validated”.
LOGSE Validation Regulations
(Information extracted from the organisational documents for schools. Government of Catalonia, Department of Education)
LOGSE validations when enrolling in a programme
The curriculum of plastic arts and design programmes consists of modules established by the Department of Education and others by State basic regulations. The curricular organisation reference (LOGSE) can be consulted on the XTEC website.
Modules common to several programmes / Direct validations
The school’s director may validate certain modules of different training programmes in accordance with the criteria and list included in Order ECI/3058/2004 of 10 September.
For these validations, it is essential that the applicant is enrolled in the official studies for which validation is requested (note: this refers to the study programme itself, not specifically to the module). The director must recognise these validations, upon prior request by the student, in writing to be archived in the academic record together with the original or certified supporting documents showing completion of the module being validated.
Other validations / Special validations
For validations not covered under “Modules common to several programmes”, the student may submit a request from the moment of enrolment. It is recommended to apply in the first year and as early as possible, as the student must attend classes until the request is approved.
The school’s director will forward the validation requests of enrolled students to the Directorate-General for Initial Vocational Training and Special Regime Education, together with the required documentation.
The school’s administration office has two types of validation application forms, depending on whether the resolution is the responsibility of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport or the Department of Education.
Note: Applications requiring resolution by the Ministry must be forwarded to the Department of Education before 15 November.
Documentation to attach to each application:
-
Proof of enrolment.
-
Copy of DNI, passport or NIE.
-
Qualification or academic certificate of completed studies.
-
Supporting documentation for completed training, including information on workload, curriculum, and a brief description of contents. (If completed studies are vocational programmes in plastic arts and design, FP cycles, higher design studies or conservation and restoration studies under LOGSE or LOE, this information is not required.)
Registration and effects of validations
The academic record must include the notation “Validated” in the validated modules. For calculating the final grade of the specific training cycle, validated modules are not included.
Exemption from the Work Placement Module
To apply, the student must have work experience.
The application must be made through the online registration form.
Between 7 and 22 October 2022 (non-final dates), the supporting documentation must be submitted to the centre where the exams are held (during registration hours), together with the following form.
