Francisco López

Francisco López Martín is the flute soloist of the Barcelona Symphony and Catalonia National Orchestra as well as the principal flute at the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. Until very recently, he has held his solo flute position at the Gothenburg Opera. He has collaborated with orchestras such as Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, Cadaqués Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Liceo Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia and Chamber Orchestra, with which he has toured practically all over the world.

He has received numerous awards at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich (the audience prize, the BR klassik online voting, the best performance of the work composed by Salvatore Sciarrino for the competition and the second prize). He has also been awarded in international competitions such as Ljungrenska Competition (Sweden), Andalucía Flute and "Pedro Bote" in Extremadura. He has been granted a scholarship on several occasions by the Caja Badajoz Foundation, the Government of Aragón and Ibercaja too.

He began his musical studies in his hometown Plasencia, with Juanjo Hernández at the "García Matos" Conservatory. He continued his higher studies in Zaragoza at the Conservatory of Music of Aragon with Fernando Gómez and Antonio Nuez as professors. During his time in Zaragoza, he also received classes from Jaime Martín, while he was part of the Orquesta Joven de Extremadura and collaborated with the Extremadura Orchestra. He also studied at the University of Gothenburg, doing the Master in Orchestral Studies at the Swedish National Orchestral Academy with flutists Havard Lysebo and Anders Jonhall. He has been part of the Baltic Sea Youth Philharmonic for two years, with whom he has toured throughout Europe.

Francisco combines his work as an orchestra musician with a very active career as a soloist. He often gives chamber music recitals. In addition, he has performed as soloist with several orchestras in Sweden, Germany, Switzerland and Spain, such as the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundkuns, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Gothenburg Opera Orchestra, Schleswig-Holsteinisches Sinfonieorchester, Collegium Musicum in Basel, Orchestra of the University of Gothenburg, Camerata del CSMA and Quiroga quartet, Chamber orchestra and the Orchestra of Extremadura.

As a professor, he has been a teacher in the Flute Course. He has taught master classes at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Badajoz, Conservatory of Music of Aragón, Superior Conservatory of Granada, Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, Pied Piper Convention of Spain, FLUTE ON festival of the Netherlands Flute Association, Barrat Due Institute of Music in Oslo and the Music Academy of the University of Gothenburg.

He has recently made his debut as a composer in his hometown, premiering his first work for orchestra "El Bailaero de las Gitanas", folkloric drama for flute, narrator and orchestra, being the first concert scheduled in the Auditorium of the Palacio de Congresos de Plasencia, with s great success of public and critic.
