Future

27/03/2026 - 31/05/2026

Daily life in the Francolí River Valley, as it passes through the northern industrial estate —one of the main hubs of the European petrochemical industry— shows the coexistence of uncertainty about the effects of this industry on health and ecosystems, and the naturalization of this risk in the day-to-day lives of the people who live there.

The title of the exhibition is a phrase taken from the fourth point of the self-protection measures protocol of the Tarragona Chemical Sector External Emergency Plan (PLASEQTA), which, among other things, seeks to confine people in closed spaces in the event of dangerous gas emissions. Although these plans and the drills to practice their activation are necessary, they also put the risk to which they are exposed and the uncertainty of when, where and how the next crisis will occur at the forefront of the population's imagination. This is especially evident in the vulnerability of wanting to pick up children from school but not being able to do so, and having to rely on the effectiveness of emergency protocols that have failed in the recent past, such as the IQOXE accident in 2020.

Through imaginaries of the present that surround the northern industrial estate, from which a future health and ecological crisis emerges, No vagis a buscar els infantes a l’escola, still unfolds a series of works about life in uncertainty.
