EADTarragona takes part in a new edition of the Comella Llum festival
The festival was first launched in 2023 with Pneumos, a light installation developed collectively by students from the Escola d’Art Llotja in Barcelona. Conceived as a project linking traditional craftsmanship with new technologies, the initiative also offered students the opportunity to work on real artistic and design projects beyond the classroom.
Despite its modest beginnings, developed within the framework of academic curricula and limited resources, the project has proven to be a valuable learning experience for participating students.
This year’s edition features several ephemeral light installations created by art school students. Among the participants are students from the Escola d’Art Llotja in Barcelona and second-year students from the Higher Vocational Training Programme in Applied Arts to the Wall at the Escola d’Art i Disseny de la Diputació in Tarragona. For the EADTarragona students, the works were produced within the stained-glass module and supervised throughout the academic year by professor Àlvar Calvet.
The festival will open on Friday, March 13. Throughout the weekend, the Comella Escultura Natura sculpture park will host this public celebration of light, welcoming visitors from 7:30 p.m.
EADTarragona’s participation
The Escola d’Art i Disseny de la Diputació in Tarragona began collaborating with the festival in its previous edition. Last year, second-year students from the Applied Arts to the Wall programme presented several artistic proposals installed throughout the site, sharing the project with students from Llotja and with international participants from institutions such as the Technische Hochschule Rosenheim (Germany) and the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan.
For this new edition, the school continues this collaborative line. The proposal allows students to present works produced within the Applied Arts to the Wall programme, which will form part of a collective exhibition of ephemeral installations displayed in the sculpture park exclusively during the festival weekend.
With this initiative, Comella Llum continues to establish itself as a meeting point for students, artists and audiences, where light, nature and contemporary creation interact in one of Tarragona’s most distinctive cultural spaces.
