Study Options & Academic Structure

The School of Art and Design of the Diputació de Tarragona is a public higher education institution with a long tradition in visual arts education and a strong commitment to quality, professionalization, creative thinking and academic excellence. The school offers an active learning environment supported by experienced teaching staff, specialised workshops and professional equipment, providing students with the skills needed to meet current and future challenges in the fields of art and design.

EAD Tarragona is a Higher Education institution (EQF Level 5) offering specialised programmes in:

-> Advertising Graphic Design
-> Interactive Graphic Design
-> Illustration
-> Animation
-> Applied Arts to the Wall
-> Photography
-> Artistic Jewellry

Incoming students can join semester-based subjects within these programmes depending on the Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) signed with their home institution.

EAD Tarragona participates in Erasmus+ under the code E TARRAGO24. All applicants must check, through their International Office, which study plan is approved in the IIA and select courses accordingly in the application form.

Teaching takes place mainly in Catalan and Spanish, with support in English when necessary. A B1–B2 level in English or Spanish is recommended. Semester dates are September–January (Autumn) and February–June (Spring). The grading system follows Spanish national standards (0–10) and maps to ECTS grades.

Additional Information (PDF): Incoming students can download the official Erasmus+ Key Data Sheet, which includes detailed institutional information, academic structure, course descriptions, deadlines, language requirements and application steps.

Nomination and Application Process

To apply, your home institution must hold a valid Inter-Institutional Agreement with EAD Tarragona. Candidates submit the following documents by email: Application Form, Transcript of Records, Portfolio (PDF or online), ID/Passport copy, and a preliminary Learning Agreement.

Deadlines: 15 May for the Autumn semester and 15 November for the Spring semester.

Applications are evaluated by the Erasmus+ coordinator together with the academic departments. Once accepted, students receive confirmation of the subjects available for their study plan, as well as practical information on schedules, the welcome/orientation session, and the expected ECTS workload.

Applications must be submitted by email to internacional@eadt.dipta.cat

Living in Tarragona

EAD Tarragona does not provide on-campus accommodation, but incoming students usually find housing easily in the city. Common options include rooms in shared flats, short-term rentals, and private student residences. Once admitted, students receive a short guide with recommended platforms, neighbourhood suggestions, and tips for finding housing.

Tarragona is a Mediterranean coastal city with mild weather, good public transport, and a strong cultural and historical environment. All everyday services like supermarkets, health centres, bus/train connections and sports facilities are located within short distance of the school.

School Facilities & Student Support

Incoming students have access to all school facilities: Mac labs, photography studios, printmaking and screen-printing workshops, pottery and 3D areas, coding and motion-graphics classrooms, and a specialized design and art library.

Support is provided throughout the stay: a welcome meeting at arrival, assistance with academic integration, information about materials and equipment, and continuous contact with the Erasmus+ coordinator. The school encourages active participation in classes, workshops, critiques, and exhibitions, allowing students to experience the full creative environment of EAD Tarragona.

For any question before or during the mobility, students can contact the Erasmus+ Coordinator at: internacional@eadt.dipta.cat.
