GIRONA TEMPS DE FLORS 2017

A project carried out by the second-year students of the Ephemeral Architecture program at the School of Art and Design of the Diputació de Tarragona in Reus. It is an exploration of vegetal structures through working with wicker and/or other natural and floral elements.

The proposal consists of building a nest-like structure, open at its base, allowing light to enter the staircase area. It also serves as a tribute to the sculpture “El arquitecto” by J. M. Subirachs.

The structure will be constructed using different weaving techniques that will shape the volume and allow the integration of floral elements. This volumetric piece will be suspended with ropes or metal tensioners from existing fixtures (pulleys, bars, railings…), and the possibility of incorporating some lighting elements will also be explored.
