Which professional opportunities will I have by studying… PIDOD, AE, 3D INFO, or Video Games?

Those who study PIDOD (Projects and Direction of Decoration Works) will be in charge, among other tasks, of the development and direction of decoration works designed by the students or by a higher-level professional, the creation of the graphic representation of projects, and the research and application of forms, materials, and creative processes in interior design.

Unlike those who study AE (Ephemeral Architecture), who will be responsible, among other things, for the development and direction of ephemeral architecture projects, the research of forms, materials, and processes, and the analysis of documentation specific to this professional field. This includes the activity of a technician in ephemeral architecture, carried out as an independent professional or associated with a company or a team linked to ephemeral spaces, decoration, design, gardening, architecture, engineering, or construction.

Studying 3D INFOGRAPHICS allows access to any official university degree programme or the labour market in areas such as: applied design for television (set design, titles, graphics, reports, documentaries, audiovisual signage, music videos); recreation of virtual spaces and scenarios applied to TV (virtual sets), archaeology (virtual archaeological reconstructions), museography, web and app creation for mobile devices and other media using industry-standard software. Infoarchitecture: creation and 3D recreation of architectural spaces and environments. Design of furniture, urban planning, and landscaping in 3D. Graphic designer with motion images. Design of graphic representation of information for audiovisual media. Audiovisual signage and digital post-production. Press and internet communication designer, as well as editorial design. Creation and recreation of prototypes for commercial presentations of new products, including applications in fashion design. Creator of visual and special effects for advertising, commercials, and corporate videos.

Video Games and Virtual Environments trains students for the creation of independent animated films or those integrated into audiovisual or multimedia productions; the creation of scenes, backgrounds, objects, and characters; the creation of keyframes to define the representation; the production of in-between drawings; and the modeling and representation of the elements that make up the animation in 2D or 3D.

How are the study cycles organized?

Classes are small, with 15 to 17 students per class, to provide more personalized and close attention. This allows for very fluid teacher/student feedback. Each teacher delivers the module knowledge in a practical and dynamic way. All cycles include both theoretical and practical components, and assessment is conducted on a quarterly basis.

Additionally, starting from the second year, it is recommended to carry out internships in companies, ranging from 80 to 280 hours. The cycle concludes with the presentation of the Final Project of the Cycle, and in the case of 3D Infographics and Video Games, the equivalent of the final project is called the Integrated Project, which is completed during the second year of the cycle.

What is the duration of the Higher Level (Advanced) Vocational Training cycles?

The higher-level specific training cycles in plastic arts and design, grouped into different professional families, include the modules taught at the educational centre, a practical training phase carried out in companies, studios, or workshops, and a final project.

The curriculum, duration, and structure of each specific training cycle are established in the respective decrees published in the DOGC (Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia).

Cycles with a duration between 1.900 and 2.000 hours require, at a minimum, that the modules and the practical training phase be completed over two academic years.

Consult the curricular framework of the Higher Level Vocational Training Cycles.

What are the requirements to access the Higher Level Vocational Training cycles?

Basically, you have direct access if you hold a Baccalaureate in Arts. You also have access with any other Baccalaureate or equivalent by taking a specific entrance exam in plastic arts and design.

If you do not hold a Baccalaureate in Arts or an equivalent qualification, you must take a specific entrance exam where knowledge in technical drawing, artistic drawing, audiovisual culture, and volume is assessed. From these four sections, you will only need to choose two when taking the exam.

For people over 19 years old who do not hold a Baccalaureate or equivalent, there is a common test and a specific test in plastic arts and design.

I want to specialize but I don’t want to study for two years and do a project… what educational programs does the School offer?

The School offers what are called training courses, which are extensive courses in specific subjects with the aim of deepening knowledge in different artistic disciplines. They have a duration of between 180 and 220 hours, with one or two weekly sessions (approximately 7 months).

On the other hand, we also offer monographic courses, which are intensive courses in specific subjects with the aim of introducing students to specialized disciplines. Unlike the training courses, these are shorter, with a duration of between 45 and 60 hours, with one or two weekly sessions (approximately 2 months).

Consult the breakdown of the training and monographic course offerings.
