EADR talent transforms Montblanc with two installations celebrating 100 years of Kriskadecor-Sans Amill

Students from the Escola d’Art i Disseny de Reus (EADR) are taking part in 100 anys inspirant emocions (100 Years Inspiring Emotions), a temporary exhibition launched to mark the centenary of Kriskadecor-Sans Amill. The exhibition features two installations that bring together design, history and creativity in some of Montblanc’s most emblematic locations.

The installations have been created by four second-year students enrolled in EADR’s higher vocational training programmes. Under the supervision of their teacher, Albert Pàmies Thomas, they have developed two projects exploring the expressive potential of chains and their relationship with architecture and design.

From Link to Link: A Century of History Through Design

The installation De baula en baula (From Link to Link), created by Cristina Muñoz Ugaz and Berta Würth Pujol, second-year students of Interior Decoration Projects and Site Management (PIDOD), is located in the courtyard of the Consell Comarcal, at 18 Sant Josep Street in Montblanc.

The project centres on the chain link, an essential component that has accompanied Sans Amill’s evolution throughout its hundred-year history. Through this element, the students trace a journey connecting the company’s origins with its current applications in architecture and interior design.

The installation’s blue tones evoke the Mediterranean and recall the company’s first steps beyond Montblanc, when its chains began reaching new markets. Walking among the chains thus becomes a symbolic journey through a century of history, innovation and transformation.

A Hundred Years in Motion: Looking Towards the Future

The second installation, Cent anys en moviment (A Hundred Years in Motion), was created by Ariadna Tobar Vaca and Paula Delmonte Pérez, second-year Ephemeral Architecture students. The installation can be seen at the Muralla de Santa Anna, in front of Montblanc’s medieval walls.

The work celebrates Kriskadecor’s centenary and its deep roots in the town through a suspended zigzag structure that creates a double optical effect, changing according to the viewer’s position.

From one side of the square, the links form a continuous sequence rising upwards, symbolising the company’s origins, its development and the strength built over several generations. From the opposite side, the links gradually spread apart, creating a visual dissolution that represents the brand’s international expansion and its outlook towards the future.

The installation transforms the chain link, an essential element of both the product and the company’s identity, into an expressive design feature representing a century-old legacy that continues to evolve.

Design, Education and Connection with the Local Community

EADR’s participation in this exhibition highlights the creative potential of its students and demonstrates how artistic and technical education can lead to projects connected with professional practice and the local community.

Through these two installations, the students have been able to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom to a real-world context, working with materials, spaces and concepts to develop proposals that engage with the company’s history and Montblanc’s architectural surroundings.

At the Escola d’Art i Disseny de Reus, we celebrate the creativity, sensitivity and hard work of Cristina Muñoz Ugaz, Berta Würth Pujol, Ariadna Tobar Vaca and Paula Delmonte Pérez, as well as the guidance provided by their teacher, Albert Pàmies Thomas, in this initiative bringing together heritage, design and innovation.

Congratulations to the whole team for helping transform Montblanc into a space for creativity and reflection!
