Ephemeral Architecture students create a Gaudí-inspired dragon for Sant Jordi 2026

Second-year Ephemeral Architecture students at the school have once again been responsible for designing and creating the Sant Jordi 2026 display window. This year’s concept draws inspiration from the universe of Antoni Gaudí, as part of the Gaudí Year in Reus.

The project takes shape through an iconic element: a dragon’s tail built using the trencadís technique, one of the most characteristic features of Gaudí’s work. Glazed red tiles were used, carefully treated and painted on the reverse side to achieve a rich and vibrant chromatic effect.

Hundreds of ceramic pieces come together to form this unique dragon, which winds through the display creating a visually striking composition full of detail. The result is an elegant and highly aesthetic proposal that combines tradition, artistic references and material experimentation.

This project has enabled students to apply their knowledge in a real-world context, from conceptual design to final execution, working collaboratively and tackling both technical and creative challenges. The display thus becomes not only an exhibition piece, but also a showcase of the students’ talent and their ability to transform an idea into a visually compelling experience.
