Opening lecture: “Exhibition Design Beyond the Museum” with Gracias Grecia
On Thursday, October 30, Espai Llimoner at the School of Art and Design of the Provincial Council will host the opening lecture of the academic year, titled “Exhibition Design Beyond the Museum.” The event, which is free and open to the entire educational community as well as the general public, will feature Gracias Grecia, a creative team with a solid track record in design, cultural production, and exhibition projects.
Who is Gracias Grecia?
Gracias Grecia is a multidisciplinary team working at the intersection of design, technology, and storytelling. According to the team, they have been combining these fields for over a decade, collaborating with prominent studios and brands, and adapting to diverse methods without being tied to a fixed style.
Some of their most notable services include:
-
Exhibition and interactive experience design
-
Curating and cultural programming
-
Creative direction, visual identity, and narrative content
-
Innovative spaces often combining emerging technology with aesthetic sensitivity
The founding team includes Elisenda Muns, María Fabuel, and Pedro Lipovetzky. Over the years, they have collaborated with institutions and brands such as OFFF, Mobile World Capital, CaixaForum, Desigual, and Wallbox.
What sets Gracias Grecia apart is their small-scale, meticulous approach: each project receives careful attention and aims for close collaboration with clients and exhibition contexts. They also place special emphasis on understanding new media and ensuring that technology serves the ideas.
What will the lecture cover?
Titled “Exhibition Design Beyond the Museum,” the lecture aims to explore how exhibitions can be reimagined outside the traditional museum paradigm. Some of the topics may include:
-
Emerging exhibition spaces: galleries, cultural centers, pop-ups, installations outside standard institutions
-
The use of technology (augmented reality, immersive audiovisuals, interactive media) to enhance the visitor experience
-
The role of curating and creative direction in non-museum projects
-
Narrative and discursive strategies to make exhibitions “speak” in diverse contexts
-
How to balance innovation with respect for artistic or heritage traditions
It will be a great opportunity for…
-
Students and teachers in design, visual arts, and museography to reflect on new forms of exhibition
-
Cultural professionals seeking inspiration for projects outside the traditional museum circuit
-
The general public interested in how cultural experiences are built in the digital era
The lecture will take place at Espai Llimoner on Thursday, October 30, at a time to be announced (details will be communicated soon). We encourage everyone to attend and participate. It will be an excellent opportunity to experience Gracias Grecia’s vision firsthand and to open a discussion on the future of exhibition design.
