The School of Art and Design of the Provincial Council in Reus celebrates Sant Jordi with an installation in its windows inspired by Gaudí

The School of Art and Design of the Provincial Council in Reus marked Sant Jordi with an artistic installation in its three large display windows, conceived and created by second-year students from the Ephemeral Architecture programme.

The proposal, developed within the framework of the Gaudí Year in Reus, takes the form of a continuous dragon’s tail running across the three exhibition spaces, creating a unified and dynamic composition. The installation is built through an abstract arrangement of red ceramic tile pieces, evoking Gaudí’s characteristic trencadís through a contemporary language.

The project establishes a dialogue between tradition and formal experimentation, reinterpreting one of Sant Jordi’s most iconic symbols—the dragon—through fragmentation, rhythm, and visual continuity. The arrangement of the elements generates a sense of flow that connects the different windows and invites a sequential reading from the public space.

From an educational perspective, the installation is part of a real-world applied project in which students were involved in the entire process, from concept development to final assembly. This experience strengthens skills such as formal synthesis, material exploration, and the relationship between project and space.

With this action, the school transforms its own display windows into a space for communication and artistic experimentation, highlighting the creative potential of its students and the connection between culture, territory, and learning.
