Second-year Ephemeral Architecture students take part in a sustainable scenography workshop at the Teatre Fortuny
Second-year students from the Ephemeral Architecture programme recently took part in a sustainable scenography workshop led by the theatre company La Baldufa at the Teatre Fortuny, as part of a collaborative project with Icaria Cooperativa and the theatre itself.
The activity forms part of a joint initiative aimed at raising awareness and encouraging reflection on the situation of young migrants, using the performing arts, scenography and ephemeral architecture as tools for social awareness and critical discourse. During the workshop, students gained first-hand insight into the company’s working methods, particularly in relation to the responsible use of materials, the reuse of scenographic elements and sustainability applied to stage design.
The session made it possible to explore the value of scenography not only as an aesthetic or functional resource, but also as a narrative language capable of conveying values, emotions and complex realities. Students actively engaged in dialogue with the professionals, sharing impressions and connecting the workshop content with the knowledge and skills developed throughout the course.
It is worth noting that the students had previously worked on the design and development of an ephemeral installationwithin the same collaborative framework, allowing for pedagogical continuity between classroom-based work and direct experience in a real professional and cultural context.
These kinds of experiences strengthen the programme’s commitment to a conscious, critical and socially engaged approach to ephemeral architecture, and highlight the importance of collaboration between educational, cultural and social institutions as a key tool for meaningful learning and the students’ holistic training.
