GAUDÍ CENTRE, Marta Rueda
The Gaudí Centre Reus is a museum located in the city of Reus, specifically in Plaça Mercadal, which connects two main streets: Monterols Street and del Vent Street.
This museum aims to pay tribute to the architect Antoni Gaudí, as he was a native of Reus, although he left no works in his hometown.
The objective of the project is to organize the space by offering various services such as a café, information point, ticket sales, and at the same time, a shop focused on the gastronomic and cultural dissemination of the city of Reus.
My project primarily seeks to solve one issue: attracting the public. Visitors enter the space through a large funnel that divides and organizes the area. This funnel leads to the shop, where visitors end their visit after exploring the museum.
The layout is based on transverse cuts of the floor, creating three subspaces within a single space. The café is located at the front, facing the large Plaça Mercadal, to maximize natural light. The central area houses the administration zone, and at the end is the entire shop, framed by the large funnel.
The goal is to create an orderly, elegant, and very linear environment, focusing the project’s materiality on three main elements: wood, steel, and perforated metal sheets.
