Second-year Ephemeral Architecture students from EADR create an installation for A Cel Obert 2026

Laura Leándrez, Laia Ramia and Paula Royo, second-year Ephemeral Architecture students at the Escola d’Art i Disseny de Reus (EAD Reus), are the creators of L’última empremta (The Last Footprint), one of the installations featured in the 2026 edition of the A Cel Obert festival in Tortosa.

Located in the Cloister of the Centre d’Art i Cultura, the installation invites visitors to reflect on the traces we leave behind and the relationship between human activity and nature’s transformative power.

Through an arrangement of scattered and suspended shoes from which flowers emerge, the artists portray the tension between human activity and the balance of the natural world. This evocative image encourages us to consider the consequences of our actions and the impact of progress on the planet.

L’última empremta does not seek to provide definitive answers. Instead, it opens up a space for reflection through essential questions: What footprint do we leave on the world? To what extent does our progress affect the planet’s ecological balance?

The installation invites us to pause, observe and become more aware of our responsibility towards nature.

At EAD Reus, we celebrate the talent, sensitivity and creativity of our students, who are taking their project beyond the classroom and contributing their unique perspective to a festival that brings together art, architecture and public space.
